Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is a key member of the Imaging Department, responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient, operating room, and emergency environments. This role works closely with radiologists, physicians, and other clinical staff to provide essential diagnostic information to aid in patient evaluation and treatment planning.


Essential Functions

  • Perform a wide range of radiographic exams including chest, extremities, spine, fluoroscopic studies, and portable imaging.
  • Evaluate clinical history, physician orders, and patient information to ensure appropriate and complete examinations.
  • Utilize independent judgment and critical thinking to adapt positioning or techniques to meet patient condition and clinical needs.
  • Operate, adjust, and maintain radiographic equipment to ensure high-quality imaging that meets regulatory and ACR standards.
  • Accurately position patients and apply proper radiation protection techniques (e.g., shielding, collimation, ALARA principles).
  • Process and transmit images through PACS for timely interpretation.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout each procedure.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in rotating shifts, call coverage, weekends, and holiday schedules as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support departmental goals for quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with orientation and training of students or new staff members when assigned.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain current clinical knowledge and certifications.
  • Perform routine quality control checks and promptly report equipment malfunctions to leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate documentation and records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
