Work Schedule:
100% FTE, Day/Evening Shift. Hours are 10:00 pm to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday with every other weekend required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work at East Madison Hospital.

We are seeking a Culinary Assistant who:

  • Prioritizes patient care above all other duties.
  • Accurately assembles and delivers patient meal trays to adult and pediatric patients who have medically prescribed diets.
  • Provides outstanding customer service by politely greeting and promptly serving customers.
  • Sanitizes dishes, cookware, equipment, and environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred

  • Food service and/or customer service experience Preferred

  • Maintain impeccable sanitation standards in the kitchen, including proper ware washing techniques and dishware organization.
  • Ensure all work areas are cleaned and sanitized regularly, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the retrieval and distribution of clean dishware, ensuring an adequate supply for meal service.
  • Support patient meal assembly by preparing and organizing ingredients, following prescribed recipes and dietary guidelines.
  • Stock and organize kitchen supplies, ensuring an efficient workflow and minimizing disruptions.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain a smooth and timely meal service for patients.
  • Adhere to food safety protocols and maintain a high level of hygiene at all times.
  • Assist in the implementation of new culinary initiatives and ensure a consistent level of quality.
  • Follow instructions and guidelines provided by the head chef or culinary supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude, contributing to a harmonious work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a culinary or food service environment is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen space.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the culinary team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards providing excellent patient care.
