Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Job Summary
The Custodial Assistant supports the daily operations of the school by helping maintain a clean, safe, orderly, and welcoming environment throughout the school building. This flexible, part-time position is responsible for performing routine cleaning and custodial duties, including floor care, vacuuming, trash removal, dusting, and general facility upkeep.
The Custodial Assistant may also assist with seasonal and deep-cleaning projects, classroom and room setups, stocking custodial supplies, and other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian. This role is essential in providing a healthy and inviting learning environment for students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting the mission and daily operations of the school.
Job Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the school building.

Vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, hallways, and other designated areas.

Empty and properly dispose of trash and recycling throughout the building.

Dust, wipe, polish, and clean windows, furnishings, fixtures, and other surfaces as needed.

Clean and maintain assigned areas in accordance with established school cleaning standards and schedules.

Assist with seasonal, periodic, and deep-cleaning projects as directed by the Head Custodian.

Assist with classroom and room setups, stocking custodial supplies, and other facility-related tasks as needed.

Monitor assigned areas and promptly report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or facility issues to the Head Custodian.

Follow established safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and guidelines for the proper use and storage of cleaning products and equipment.

Maintain a professional, dependable, and respectful presence while working in an active school environment.

Communicate scheduling needs, absences, and other relevant information to the Head Custodian and Custodial Team in a timely manner.

Perform other related custodial duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Ability to perform general cleaning and custodial duties in a school environment.

Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Head Custodian and Custodial Team.

Ability to follow instructions, established cleaning schedules, and safety procedures.

Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time and responsibilities effectively.

Ability to safely operate routine custodial equipment and use cleaning products appropriately.

Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.

Demonstrate a positive, cooperative, and service-oriented attitude when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
