Customer Care Representative

The Metropolitan Opera is seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented Part-Time Customer Care Representatives for the Inbound Call Center. This is an opportunity to work for the largest classical music organization in the US and contribute to the daily operations of a cultural landmark. In this role, you will be part of a diverse team of colleagues helping to create meaningful experiences for opera lovers with every interaction.

Customer Care Representatives are responsible for responding to inbound customer inquiries by providing exceptional customer service. This includes inquiries about performances and services, processing ticket orders, Membership sales, and performing general account maintenance. In some situations, upselling customers to additional performances, advanced membership levels, and/or new products or services are encouraged and rewarded.

Department Hours of Operation will vary based upon seasonal performances. This may include Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM EST as well as Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM EST.

This is a Part-Time, hybrid working opportunity, with up to 40 hours/week available depending on operating schedule.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills to represent the Met in a way that is meaningful and relevant to each individual customer
  • The ability to listen carefully to customize each customer inquiry based on the understanding of customer's needs and their unique relationship to the Met.
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience within a fast-paced environment; non-profit, performing arts, and/or call center preferred but not required.
  • High comfort level with digital systems and computer-based work; Tessitura or CRM experience preferred but not required.
  • Be a fast learner who is able to quickly adapt to new technology, procedures, and product offerings.
  • Must have flexibility with scheduling; Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts as organization needs require.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen for long periods of time both on a computer and phone.
  • Frequently required to use repetitive hand motions and to stand, walk, reach, and bend.
