Customer Category Analyst — Costco

Tyson Foods | Tyson Growth Organization | Customer Insights & Analytics

In-person role | Springdale, Arkansas | Not eligible for remote or hybrid work

About the role. The Customer Category Analyst is the analytical expert for the Costco customer team within Tyson's Growth organization, advising our sales organization through best-in-class data, insights, and reporting. You will turn syndicated and point-of-sale data into clear, actionable selling stories that support Tyson Foods and the Costco partnership. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven, self-motivated professional to grow their career in category management and customer analytics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze Costco's business metrics — sales trends, new-item performance, member behavior, and competitive benchmarking — using syndicated and point-of-sale data.
  • Produce and publish daily, weekly, and quarterly reporting for team leaders and the Costco account team, plus ad hoc analysis on short turnaround.
  • Translate data into persuasive, opportunity-framed selling stories and recommendations for Tyson leadership and Costco buyers.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to break down complex business questions and drive profitable brand and category growth.
  • Grow into the team's go-to resource for syndicated and retailer data tools, surfacing insights that benefit both Costco and Tyson Foods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Marketing Research, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience with a branded consumer-goods (CPG) company preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with an unwavering commitment to accurate, traceable, and defensible data.
  • A self-starter who is highly motivated and proactive, and who contributes as a dependable, collaborative team member.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills for both internal and external audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with syndicated data sources such as Circana or NielsenIQ, along with retailer point-of-sale platforms.
  • Background in CPG or retail, ideally supporting large-format club, grocery, or mass channels.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) in prior roles.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and Power BI report or dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or Copilot to accelerate analysis and reporting.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to build clear, persuasive PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to identify trends, diagnose business drivers, and translate data into practical recommendations.
  • Confidence presenting findings, in writing and in person, to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A growth mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first orientation.
