Customer Service Administrative Professional
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, contractors, residents, and other stakeholders, providing professional and responsive assistance with building department services and processes.

Provide administrative support throughout the permitting process, including receiving applications, entering and tracking information, coordinating plan review and inspections, issuing permits, and assisting with permit closeout.

Maintain accurate and organized records, including permit files, correspondence, inspection reports, plans, drawings, reference materials, and other department documentation.

Respond to customer questions by phone, email, and in person, providing information, resolving routine issues, and directing more technical questions to the appropriate team member.

Coordinate with plans examiners, inspectors, and other staff to keep projects moving through the permitting process and provide customers with timely updates.

Perform general administrative duties including data entry, document preparation, recordkeeping, scheduling, and other support functions as needed.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with residents, contractors, government representatives, coworkers, and other customers.

Excellent administrative, organizational, telephone, and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and provide accurate work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment when responding to customer questions and administrative issues.

Comfortable learning new procedures, terminology, regulations, and technology.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with permitting, database, CRM, or similar software is preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of administrative, office support, customer service, or related experience required.

Experience working directly with customers in a professional office, government, construction, property management, or similar environment preferred.

Building, construction, permitting, or municipal experience is helpful but not required.

Experience with permit processing or other detail-oriented administrative processes is a plus.
-
ICC Permit Technician Certification is a plus but is not required.
