Customer Service Associate

As a Customer Service Associate, you will be the primary point of contact for customers who have overdue accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to establish positive relationships with these customers, understand their financial situations, and work collaboratively to develop tailored payment plans. You will need to exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey the importance of timely payments and the potential consequences of non-payment.
  • Contact customers with outstanding debts to discuss their financial situation and payment options.
  • Negotiate and agree on realistic payment plans that align with the customer's ability to pay.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and payment arrangements.
  • Provide excellent customer service by actively listening to customer concerns and offering empathetic solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements regarding debt collection.
  • Collaborate with the collections team to develop effective strategies for debt recovery.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in debt collection and customer service.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases to the appropriate team leads or managers.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times when dealing with customers.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment within the Collections department.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service or a similar role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles.
  • Excellent active listening skills and a genuine interest in helping customers.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office or similar software for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of customer interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of debt collection practices and regulations.
  • Willingness to undergo training on debt collection strategies and customer service techniques.
  • A positive and solution-oriented mindset, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
