Job Description Summary

Ensure the development, implementation, and maintenance of import and export policies/operation, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all Government regulations and laws. Conduct risk assessments of import, export and special customs programs to ensure compliance. Conduct training on Import / Export Compliance subjects for AAM Associates. Responsible for minimizing AAM exposure to legal liabilities and avoiding penalties, fines and supply chain delays. Analyze costs and identify savings opportunities. Identify ways to automate Customs processes and create trade data visibility. Provide business planning advice for strategic business initiatives.

Job Description:

  • To coordinate with local customs teams inbound and outbound shipments to ensure flows are effective For Mexico (GMC, Ramos, GKN).
  • To ensure Mx brokers performance is accurate according to DAUCH objectives.
  • Leading the daily Mx customs operations for imports and exports activities, including direct reports daily workload and projects.
  • Local Customs Operations Teams administration and KPIs
  • Identify and report any potential violations of trade compliance laws and any incidents involving significant weaknesses in processes or procedures.
  • To assure Cross border activity to be compliant with the legal customs regulations for all Mexico Entities
  • To Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that employees understand and follow targeted legal principles involving IMMEX and foreign trade laws.
  • Perform periodic customs compliance audits as needed and assist with development, standardization, and corrective action plan implementation.
  • To ensure compliance with Mexico customs and trade compliance regulations by analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation, recommending opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure.
  • Electronic file and Value declaration management.
  • To effectively support the correct administration of the IMMEX program, RAOCE, PROSEC, 8th Rule, OEA, CTPAT and VAT certification as well as the renewals when applicable.
  • To assure the correct recordkeeping of the legal trade compliance documents related to the IMMEX program and trade certifications including the implementation of an effective audit of the entry filing.
  • To provide guidance and support to the customs inventory discharges process on regular basis as well as to implement any needed improvements for having an accurate result.
  • To analyze the customs entry information as an ongoing activity to confirm all processes are in compliance with Mx customs regulations.
  • Communicate audit progress and findings by preparing reports, providing information to DAUCH Trade Compliance management.
  • To implement customs preventive actions and new processes to keep compliance with the Mx regulations.
  • To provide support on fulfilling the Mexican Tax Administration Service and the Ministry of Economy inquires in a timely manner assuring compliance within the legal guidelines.
  • Pay, or arrange for payment of, taxes and duties on shipments.
  • Clear goods through customs and to their destinations for customers.
  • Calculate duty and tariff payments owed on shipments.

Required Skills and Education

  • International Business, Supply Chain Management bachelor’s degree or similar.
  • 7 to 10 years of work experience.
  • Mexican Regulatory Trade Compliance (SAT, Customs and Ministry of Economy).
  • Good problem-solving and auditing skills.
  • Leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Availability to travel 20%-30%.
  • Project management experience.
  • Fluent English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of Foreign Trade Programs: IMMEX, OEA, and VAT Certification systems (Annex 24 and 30, respectively).
  • Analytical and focused on results.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team.
  • Knowledge in certifications of origin of products by international agreements.
