Cyber Security Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year

• 3–5 years of commercial experience in a security or infrastructure role
• Strong, recent experience managing Windows operating systems
• Experience managing next-generation firewall policies
• Experience deploying and managing endpoint protection and EDR
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and VLANs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey security risks clearly and confidently
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, or the NIST Framework
• Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, Azure AD, or SCCM
• Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages

• Assist with implementing, maintaining, and documenting security solutions, and ensure existing systems are replaced
• Own endpoint protection, boundary firewalls, and other technical security solutions
• Implement exceptions and make changes for new requirements in line with least-privilege principles, while maintaining usability and a good end-user experience
• Use open-source intelligence and official disclosures to identify potential security risks and suggest remediation steps in line with the assessed level of risk
• Work with the Cyber Security Analyst to provide second- and third-line support for IT security incidents and requests, resolving issues within IT service-level agreements
• Contribute to the professional development of the Cyber Security Analyst and junior IT team members
• Provide out-of-hours support on a rotating basis
• Advise the IT team on best practices for implementing projects and solutions in line with least-privilege principles
• Assist with ongoing cybersecurity projects and work toward strategic objectives, particularly reducing cybersecurity risk
