Cyber Security Engineer / Consultant – Akamai

Put your Akamai expertise to work protecting internet-facing applications, APIs and network infrastructure in a complex enterprise environment.

We’re seeking a senior, hands-on Cyber Security Engineer / Consultant with strong technical depth and the confidence to work independently.

You’ll partner with engineering, application, infrastructure, architecture and project teams to strengthen security controls and resolve security issues.

What you’ll do

• Onboard and manage applications and APIs within Akamai security platforms.
• Implement, configure and tune Akamai WAF, Bot Manager Premier and Account Protector.
• Investigate and resolve WAF and API security incidents, applying effective mitigations.
• Work directly with technical and delivery teams to implement security controls.
• Manage multiple workstreams, troubleshoot complex issues and communicate outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years’ experience in Network Security, Cyber Security or Security Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience across all three: Akamai WAF, Akamai Bot Manager Premier (BMP) and Akamai Account Protector.
• Proven experience onboarding and managing applications and APIs within Akamai.
• Experience implementing and tuning bot protection, account protection and web application security controls.
• Strong understanding of web application and API threats, attack vectors and mitigation techniques.
• Experience investigating and resolving WAF and API security incidents.
• Experience operating within large enterprise environments and collaborating with application, infrastructure and delivery teams.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical, troubleshooting, written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive, outcome-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Highly regarded

• Akamai Guardicore Segmentation and experience designing, implementing or operating microsegmentation solutions.
• Check Point Firewall administration and policy management.
• Cloud-native firewall technologies and security controls across AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Cloud network security, segmentation and policy enforcement.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust and modern network security architectures.
• Experience supporting security governance, remediation or control uplift initiatives.
