Cyber Security Engineer

Summary

Designs and maintains secure Azure and VMware environments, enforces identity policies, and responds to security incidents for a UK-based tech company.

Salary: £60,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Microsoft Azure security experience, including Entra ID, Conditional Access, RBAC and Azure Policy
  • VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter administration and security experience
  • Cisco Meraki networking experience, including firewall rules, VLANs and VPNs
  • Experience in incident response, alert triage and vulnerability remediation
  • Windows and Linux hardening and patch management experience
  • Experience supporting DR testing, recovery validation and business continuity
  • Exposure to Sophos MDR, Microsoft Sentinel or Defender is preferred
  • PowerShell, KQL or automation skills are advantageous
Responsibilities:
  • Support our hybrid infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, VMware and Cisco Meraki technologies
  • Improve cloud and infrastructure security controls
  • Support MDR operations and strengthen cyber resilience
  • Work with infrastructure, networking and service teams on security improvements
  • Carry out incident response, alert triage and vulnerability remediation
  • Perform Windows and Linux hardening and patch management
  • Support DR testing, recovery validation and business continuity activities
  • Contribute to ransomware recovery planning and continuous security improvement initiatives

We are recruiting for a hands-on Cyber Security Engineer to join our growing infrastructure and security team. The role supports a hybrid environment across Microsoft Azure, VMware and Cisco Meraki technologies and focuses on cloud security, infrastructure hardening, vulnerability remediation, incident response, disaster recovery testing and cyber resilience. This is a hybrid working opportunity with involvement across cloud security, network security, ransomware recovery planning and continuous security improvement initiatives. It would suit a Security Engineer, Infrastructure Security Engineer, Cloud Security Engineer or Cyber Security Analyst with strong hybrid infrastructure exposure and a practical operational mindset.
