Troocoo is currently working with a Queensland Government Department to find a Cyber Security Engineer on an initial 9 month contract with 12 months extension. Join a dynamic team to lead hands-on technical delivery, enhance logging and authentication frameworks, and strengthen cyber safety across a hybrid enterprise environment.

About the role:

  • As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will lead the hands-on technical delivery of complex cyber security uplift initiatives, with a particular focus on improving Essential Eight maturity and strengthening the organisation's overall security posture.
  • undertake discovery, design and implementation activities
  • introduce multi-factor authentication across legacy applications and systems, optimising Microsoft Sentinel and expanding security logging, delivering Essential Eight uplift activities,
  • decommissioning legacy technologies, and improving business continuity, high availability and backup capabilities.
  • You will develop technical designs, configurations, implementation plans, procedures and status reporting, navigating ICT governance processes to secure approval and ensure solutions are successfully implemented.
  • Work across multiple technical teams and workstreams, and coordinate resources and technical change activities, manage dependencies, identify and mitigate technical risks and gaps, and ensure committed scope and timeframes are achieved.

Your background:
  • Hands-on technical experience in implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/logging).
  • Strong practical knowledge of cyber security frameworks, specifically Essential 8 Maturity Levels and ISO 27001.
  • Proven background in Microsoft Technologies (M365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows 11) and hybrid Cloud/On-Prem solutions.
  • Excellent critical thinking, strategic analysis, and technical document writing skills for producing system procedures and status reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary technical teams and stakeholders.
