About Us

At Enviro NZ, we’re making it easier for New Zealanders to shift to a more sustainable way of life.

We are creating a very exciting future, one that is technology enabled and focused on providing exceptional customer outcomes.

The Role

In this role, the Cyber Security Manager will take ownership of Enviro NZ’s cyber security capability, making sure our systems, information, operational services and people are protected as we continue to grow and innovate.

This is a hands-on strategic role where you will bring together cyber risk, governance, security operations and continual improvement, without creating unnecessary layers of complexity.

You’ll work across the technology team and wider business, helping people understand cyber risk and making sure security is considered in everything from technology projects and suppliers through to day-to-day operations.

You’ll also provide security assurance across technology projects, procurement, contracts and significant technology changes, helping ensure security risks are identified and addressed early. You’ll coordinate security operations and incident response across internal teams and external providers, including response to significant cyber incidents.

About You

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of cyber security and also understands that good security is about enabling the business, not putting roadblocks in its way.

Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who knows their stuff, can work across the business and wants to make a real difference to how Enviro NZ manages cyber security and risk.

Key skills you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualification in cyber security or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in cyber security, including leadership, governance, risk, security operations or senior advisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge across cyber risk, security operations, cloud, identity, endpoint and network security.
  • The ability to develop and deliver a practical cyber security strategy, roadmap and improvement programme.
  • Experience using recognised cyber security frameworks, ideally including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, to assess maturity, identify gaps and prioritise improvements.
  • Strong risk-based judgement, with the ability to balance appropriate security controls with the needs of a commercial organisation.
  • Experience assessing security controls, coordinating security reviews, penetration testing and vulnerability management, and driving remediation.
  • The ability to work with security partners, vendors and specialist providers and hold them to account for the effectiveness of the services they deliver.
  • Experience coordinating cyber security incident response across internal teams and external providers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to make complex cyber risks understandable to executives, operational leaders and people who don't live and breathe technology.
  • The ability to build cyber awareness across the organisation and bring people along on the journey.
  • Relevant security certifications would be desirable.

What’s on Offer

We offer an attractive salary, reviewed annually, along with a range of benefits that support both your work and wellbeing, including:

  • Modern head office with free onsite parking and easy access to public transport
  • Complimentary gym membership and access to onsite tennis courts
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives, including EAP support
  • A genuinely inclusive workplace where people can bring their whole self to work

Apply

if you’re ready to take ownership of cyber security in an organisation that is embracing technology and looking to the future, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us why this role is a good fit for you.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Pre-Employment Health Assessment (including drugs test) and complete a Ministry of Justice criminal records check, the results of which must be to EnviroNZ’s satisfaction. Applicants must also have NZ citizenship, residency or open work visa.
