Summary

Cybersecurity specialists (GRC & Assurance) focus on governance, risk, compliance, and technical security for classified government/defense systems, applying frameworks like ISM, NIST, and ASD Essential Eight to ensure secure system accreditation and ongoing compliance.

Salary: $150k – $165k + 14% Super

Our client operates in a complex, highly secure technology environment supporting important Government, Defence and national security outcomes.

With sophisticated systems, technically challenging programs and an established cyber security function, they offer an environment where security professionals can build deep expertise while working alongside experienced technical and security specialists.

As the organisation continues to strengthen its cyber capability, there are currently two opportunities for NV1 and NV2 cleared professionals to join the team.

The Opportunity

We're looking for cyber security professionals across GRC and technical security assurance.

Depending on your experience and strengths, you could focus on governance, risk, compliance and security authorisation, or take greater ownership of the security posture and accreditation of classified IT systems.

Both positions offer exposure to complex environments, Australian Government security frameworks and experienced cyber professionals, with genuine opportunities to continue developing your expertise.

The Roles

Cyber GRC Specialist

Working with the Cyber GRC Manager, you'll support information system authorisation and help improve governance, risk and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Your work will include security authorisation documentation, risk assessments, security controls and providing practical compliance advice aligned with Government requirements.

Cyber Security Assurance Specialist

In this more technically focused position, you'll act as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for assigned classified systems.

You'll oversee their compliance and technical security posture, supporting accreditation and ongoing security across areas including configuration, change control, vulnerability management, monitoring, auditing and incident response.

Across the two opportunities, responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting security authorisation and accreditation activities
  • Developing and maintaining system security documentation
  • Applying ISM, NIST and relevant Government frameworks
  • Conducting cyber security and vulnerability risk assessments
  • Supporting implementation and monitoring of security controls
  • Providing specialist security and compliance advice
  • Maintaining security posture across classified IT systems
  • Working with technical, security and Government stakeholders
The Ideal Person

Candidates who have developed their careers across cyber security, GRC, security assurance, system accreditation or secure systems administration would be well suited for these roles.

For the GRC Specialist, you'll ideally bring three years' experience and a working knowledge of frameworks including the ISM, PSPF, ASD Essential Eight and NIST. Experience preparing security authorisation documentation and conducting cyber risk assessments will be particularly relevant.

For the Security Assurance Specialist, you'll typically bring six years' technical and cyber security experience, with knowledge of Government system accreditation, classified IT environments, security configuration, continuous monitoring, incident response and risk management. Experience with DISP, DSPF, ISM and NIST-aligned frameworks will be valuable.

You don't need to fit both profiles. We're interested in where your experience is strongest and which opportunity best suits the next stage of your career.
