Cybersecurity Intern - PlayCore

Summary
The Cybersecurity Intern is a member of the IT Infrastructure team. The position will support day-to-day cybersecurity operations, security documentation, vulnerability management, compliance activities, and security awareness initiatives across PlayCore. This role is intended to provide hands-on experience in enterprise cybersecurity while assisting the IT Infrastructure team in protecting company systems, data, users, and technology assets.

The Cybersecurity Intern will work closely with infrastructure and support teams to help identify risks, document findings, assist with remediation tracking, and support the continued maturity of PlayCore’s cybersecurity program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with monitoring and reviewing security alerts, system logs, and security-related reports.
2. Support vulnerability management activities, including scan review, remediation tracking, and documentation.
3. Assist with identity and access management reviews, including user access validation and account cleanup efforts.
4. Support cybersecurity documentation, including procedures, standards, inventories, and security control evidence.
5. Assist with security awareness initiatives, phishing simulations, and employee cybersecurity communications.
6. Assist with incident response documentation, evidence collection, and post-incident follow-up activities.
7. Support compliance efforts related to cybersecurity frameworks, internal policies, and audit requests.
8. Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and recommended mitigation strategies.
9. Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive security, user, system, or business information.
10. Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

Education and/or Experience

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity
  • Previous coursework, labs, certifications, internships, or hands-on experience related to cybersecurity, networking, systems administration, cloud technologies, or IT support is preferred.
  • A basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking concepts, operating systems, and Microsoft technologies is preferred.

Travel
Travel in this position is not required.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to effectively, and professionally, communicate through verbal and written means with employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and common business productivity tools.

Preferred experience or familiarity includes:
