Summary
A cybersecurity leadership role in the NSW Government (via Hays): the Manager, ICT Operations & Cybersecurity leads the security function end to end — strategy, governance, policy, incident readiness, monitoring, vulnerability management and awareness — to uplift cyber maturity in a Microsoft-heavy, regulated environment.
Cybersecurity Manager - Cyber Uplift Programme
The Manager, ICT Operations & Cybersecurity is responsible for leading the organisation's cybersecurity function and ensuring cyber risk is effectively managed across people, process and technology. The role provides strategic direction, policy and operational oversight to protect information, systems and services, uplift cyber maturity, and ensure alignment with NSW Government cybersecurity requirements and organisational risk appetite. The role leads the development and delivery of cybersecurity strategy, governance, policies, processes and assurance. Including incident readiness and response, security monitoring and vulnerability management, and security awareness activities, balancing risk, cost and usability to support organisational outcomes.
You are an experienced or emerging cybersecurity leader who can drive security outcomes. Combining strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and an understanding of the role of security within a complex regulated environment, you can work effectively with executives, technology teams and business leaders to strengthen cyber resilience and embed a security-focused culture.
You have successfully contributed to or led cybersecurity uplift programmes and understand how to balance governance, risk, compliance and operational outcomes. You are comfortable leading teams, influencing stakeholders and translating cyber risk into clear business decisions. This role is responsible for leading the organisation's cybersecurity function, uplifting maturity, managing cyber risk and ensuring alignment with NSW Government cybersecurity requirements.

- Experience improving security maturity and cyber resilience.
- Ability to embed security-by-design principles across technology initiatives.
- Broad technical knowledge across modern cybersecurity domains (Microsoft heavy environment)
