Position Summary
The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the dairy department by ensuring product quality, inventory accuracy, merchandising excellence, and outstanding customer service. This position provides leadership to department associates, helps maintain proper inventory levels, and ensures department standards for freshness, cleanliness, and food safety are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations- Supervise daily dairy department activities and support efficient workflow execution.
- Ensure dairy products are stocked, rotated, and merchandised according to company standards.
- Maintain department conditions that are clean, organized, and customer-ready.
- Monitor department performance and support achievement of sales and operational goals.
- Assist with implementing company programs, promotions, and merchandising initiatives.
- Ensure proper execution of department opening, closing, and replenishment procedures.
- Maintain attractive and fully stocked dairy displays and refrigerated cases.
- Ensure proper product rotation using freshness and date code standards.
- Verify accurate pricing, labeling, and signage throughout the department.
- Support promotional displays and seasonal merchandising programs.
- Monitor product availability and address out-of-stock conditions promptly.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales through product presentation and inventory management.
- Assist with ordering and inventory control to meet customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
- Verify delivery accuracy and proper product storage procedures.
- Minimize shrink through proper handling, rotation, forecasting, and inventory practices.
- Maintain organized coolers, storage rooms, and backstock areas.
- Support inventory counts, audits, and recordkeeping activities.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and daily direction to dairy department associates.
- Assist with training associates on stocking procedures, food safety, and customer service standards.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor productivity and performance.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development efforts as needed.
- Serve as a department leader in the absence of the Dairy Manager.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product selection, location inquiries, and department questions.
- Address customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive service.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming shopping environment for customers.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Monitor product temperatures, freshness, and storage requirements.
- Ensure proper handling and rotation of dairy products.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
- Identify and address food safety or workplace safety concerns immediately.
- Support routine department inspections and compliance reviews.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous grocery, dairy, retail, or food service experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and food safety practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in refrigerated coolers and varying temperature conditions.
