Dance Instructor
The Northbrook Park District is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Dance Instructor to inspire and educate students of all ages in a variety of dance styles (including tap dance) within our vibrant and growing arts program.
This position is responsible for teaching assigned classes in a designated program area, within established program guidelines and while providing the proper guidance and support for each participant. Class instruction may vary based on level of expertise of students/attendees and age range of students/attendees. May instruct classes for children through adult age. Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the District
Pay & Schedule:
$25.00 - $30.00 Per Hour
This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Friday & Sunday mornings - varies by season
Anticipated Start Date: 6/7 (could be sooner)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements lessons or schedule supporting the established program curriculum.
- Actively engages all students and provides support and constructive feedback.
- Tracks attendance records and documents student progress, when required.
- Prepares students for end of session shows or recitals as needed.
- Arrives before class start time to inspect instruction space, set-up equipment and supplies if needed and greet students.
- Regularly updates Performing Arts Supervisor on the condition of the teaching space and equipment.
- Plans and organizes class routines, projects, performances, recital(s), when required.
- Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
- Follows safe work practices.
- Attends trainings and meetings as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
