Dance/Movement/Musical Theatre Teaching Artist (PART-TIME)

WHAT WE DO…

CTC is a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences recognized for the breadth and strength of our programs. We are dedicated to creating vibrant and engaging theatre experiences, both on the stage and in the classroom.

CTC welcomes applications from enthusiastic and highly motivated teaching artists interested in joining our team. We regularly accept applications for this position to fill immediate or future needs.


WHAT YOU’LL DO...

  • Deliver quality instruction that meets or exceeds expectations established by our Education Department.
  • Create and implement lesson plans (reviewed weekly) designed to build theatre skills and engagement based on the curriculum provided by our Education Team.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and staff, striving to maintain program quality.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

OUR THEATRE EDUCATION PROGRAMS:

  • Creative Drama (9 weeks/Sept-Dec & Jan-March): Weekly classes with games, crafts, music, and story dramatization for ages 2-9.
  • School of Theatre Training (18 weeks/Sept-Dec & Jan-March): Weekly, skills-based theatre classes for Grades 4-12, including acting and musical theatre focuses.
  • Disney Musicals In Schools (throughout the CMS school year): Professional Development program for CMS schools. All DMIS Teaching Artists will work with children in Grades 3-5, but are teaching public school teachers how to mount a musical. Must be able to attend all DMIS training and orientations the week of November 16-20. DMIS Teaching Artists are on site for one 90 minute rehearsal a week from January-April.
  • Long- and Short-Term Residencies (throughout the year): Performing arts classes with our community partners including area schools and recreation centers. Ages and duration of programs may vary.
  • Summer Camp (10 weeks/June-Aug): Week-long, process-based classes for ages 3 through Grade 12. Younger students explore scripts adapted from children’s books. Older students explore full scripts of plays and musicals, with some skills-based training for teens.
