Velocity Dance Center is hiring for an immediate opening. Do you love working with kids? Want to make a difference? Velocity Dance Center is seeking a positive and experienced individual for the role of Assistant Dance Teacher and Dance Teacher in a subbing capacity at our Oklahoma City location.

Velocity Dance Center has been serving families in the Oklahoma City area for 20 seasons. Our mission is to "Grow Great Kids Through Dance." Our classes are taught by skilled teachers in positive classrooms, and we pride ourselves on age-appropriate movement concepts, costuming, and music. Our students go beyond technique to learn important life skills and incorporate VDC values – family first, leadership training, education, professionalism, and community – in all that we do.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of dance styles, work with a supportive, collaborative team, and make a positive impact on our students' lives. We are looking for someone with experience teaching dance to children of all ages, who is creative and flexible in their teaching style and brings an enthusiastic, disciplined, and warm approach to students.

The ideal candidate can teach a variety of styles from a curriculum and also create and manage their own progressive class plans. You must have excellent organizational and self-management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The ideal candidate can teach hip hop, ballet, jazz, and pom to beginners ages 3 - 16 AND can teach intermediate to advanced dancers ages 8 - 18 in at least 2 of the following styles: acro, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theater, ballet, leaps and turns, or stretch and flexibility. For the right candidate, there is also an opportunity to choreograph and work with competitive dancers.

Availability:

• Must be able to work Saturdays from 9 am - 1 pm
• Class times and styles vary from night to night. The ideal candidate is available to sub multiple days a week and every Saturday.
• Available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings January - June 2027

Additional Responsibilities:

• Calling and texting trial class parents
• Daily cleaning of your classroom
• Attend quarterly staff meetings, VDC Community Events, and all recital and performance rehearsals and events as scheduled. These events are paid for with additional admin hours.
• Prepare engaging classes each week.
• Prepare dancers for 2 successful recitals, including selecting music and choreography.

The ideal full-time candidate would be interested in overseeing classrooms and curriculum in addition to teaching. This full-time role would be committed to working evenings Monday - Friday and in the daytime on Saturday. We offer paid time off and IRA accounts with an employer match for part-time employees.
