Data Analysis Analyst SQL

What the Role Is
We are hiring for the position of Officer – Data Management / Business Analyst2 C10 role within Citi’s AIM Wealth Data Strategy team, based in Chennai India. In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of enterprise data solutions that enable consistent reporting, analytics, and business insights across Wealth. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, data modelers, and technology teams to understand business requirements, identify and analyze source data, define mapping specifications, support Unified Data Model (UDM) development, and validate delivered data assets. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale strategic data initiatives while gaining exposure to enterprise data architecture, governance, and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities: Below are the high level job responsibilities.
Business Requirement Analysis: Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics and data requirements.
Data Sourcing and Exploration: Identify relevant source systems, files, tables and attributes required to support business use cases.
Data Quality and Governance: Support identification of Critical Data Elements and relevant data quality rules. Assist with data classification, lineage, metadata and governance documentation.
Testing and Validation: Perform UAT and validate delivered tables, attributes, relationships and transformation logic. Compare source and target data, investigate discrepancies and track defects through closure.

Qualifications:
Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, data management, business intelligence or a related area.
Experience working with structured data, source systems, data warehouses or enterprise data platforms.
Experience in banking, financial services or Wealth Management is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong SQL skills for data exploration, profiling, reconciliation and validation.
Good understanding of relational databases, data modelling concepts, keys, relationships and data lineage.
Experience working with large datasets and analyzing source-to-target data flows.
Familiarity with tools such as Hive, Hue, Snowflake, Teradata, Hadoop, Dataiku, Python or PySpark is an advantage.
Exposure to Tableau, Power BI or other reporting tools is useful.
Business Analysis Skills:
Ability to gather, analyze and document business and data requirements.
Ability to translate business concepts into entities, attributes, mapping rules and validation criteria.
Strong documentation skills, including requirements, mapping documents, data dictionaries and process flows.
Ability to review sample data and determine whether it meets the intended business purpose.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to challenge unclear definitions or mappings.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
Proactive learning mindset and willingness to develop deeper expertise in Wealth data and One Wealth architecture.
