You’ll learn on-the-job, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, whilst working towards your apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.

WHY JOIN THIS SCHEME?

Do you enjoy maths, spotting patterns in data, or working with Excel? Kick-start your career with the BBC as a Data Analyst Apprentice. You'll work on real projects, learn from industry experts, and help shape a data-driven future. Best of all, we'll teach you Python coding from scratch, giving you valuable skills for the future. If you're curious, enjoy teamwork, and love solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

Audience Team:

The Audiences team helps the BBC make better decisions by providing insight into audience behaviour, needs and perceptions. We combine audience research, data analysis, digital analytics and strategic insight to help teams across the BBC understand who our audiences are, how they use BBC services, and how we can better serve them.

As an Early Careers Apprentice, you'll gain experience across different areas of audience insight and analytics, working with research and data specialists to support projects that inform strategic and editorial decision-making. You'll develop practical skills in research, analysis, stakeholder engagement and project delivery while working on real business challenges.

As part of the Audiences department, apprentices will support the day-to-day delivery of audience insight, research and analytics projects. They will have opportunities to work with a range of teams and develop experience in both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, digital analytics, audience measurement and insight communication.

Typical activities may include:

  • Supporting the production of regular audience reporting, insight updates and presentations.
  • Assisting with qualitative and quantitative research projects, including questionnaire design, fieldwork preparation, analysis and reporting.
  • Conducting desk research and gathering information from a variety of audience, industry and market intelligence sources.
  • Supporting digital analytics and audience measurement activities, helping to identify trends and patterns in audience behaviour.
  • Assisting with project coordination and administration across research, analytics and strategic insight projects.
  • Contributing to the interpretation and communication of audience data and research findings to colleagues across the BBC.
  • Working with stakeholders from different teams to understand business questions and support evidence-based decision making.
  • Learning how audience insight, research and analytics are used to shape BBC products, content and services.
  • Developing skills in data literacy, storytelling, presentation and professional communication.

We're looking for people who are curious about audiences, data, media and technology, and who are keen to learn in a professional environment.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

As a Data Analyst apprentice (DAA27), this is brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute – you will:

  • Work with real data to uncover trends, solve problems and support decision-making.
  • Learn how data helps shape services, projects and performance across the organisation.
  • Develop skills in collecting, analysing and presenting data, turning information into clear insights.
  • Create reports and visualisations that help colleagues understand and act on data.
  • Understand the importance of data privacy, ethics and responsible data use

You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. This means you’ll spend at least one day a week studying for a Level 4 Data Analyst qualification with our learning provider Cambridge Spark using its virtual delivery platform.

For more information on what you will study during the scheme, please see the Data Analyst apprenticeship standard.
