Data Analyst
Summary
Data Analyst at Culture Counts (Perth) developing and maintaining analytical tools for the company's survey/evaluation platform: using Python to work with complex datasets, automate processes, and turn data into insights for arts, cultural and government clients. Core skills are Python and statistics; Jupyter, Streamlit and BI tools are desirable.
Culture Counts is an innovative evaluation company with our own survey software platform and associated analytics and reporting services. We help organisations understand and measure their impact through meaningful data and insights.
Our platform is used by leading arts and cultural organisations, local governments and institutions across Australia and internationally. A selection of our clients includes the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport; City of Sydney; Burswood Park Board, and West Australian Opera.
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated Data Analyst with strong Python skills to join our close-knit team. This is a hands-on technical role combining Python, data analysis and the ongoing improvement of our analytical tools and processes.
Working alongside our client team and Product Director, you’ll help develop and maintain analytical tools, automate processes, work with complex datasets and turn data into meaningful insights. We work with artists, festivals and councils daily, so someone who’s curious, collaborative, generous with their knowledge, and who also enjoys working alongside creative, non-technical people would be a great fit.
Essential Criteria
Strong Python skills, including the ability to read, write, debug and maintain code
Solid understanding of statistics and data analysis, with strong problem-solving skills
Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining results to non-technical audiences
A proactive, self-motivated approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
Interest in, or experience with, the arts and culture sector
Desirable Criteria
2–4 years of relevant professional experience
A tertiary qualification in data science, computer science, software engineering or a related field
Experience using Jupyter Notebooks, and/or the Streamlit framework
Experience with dashboard software (Power BI, Tableau) or other data visualisation tools
Experience with, or interest in, web development technologies
How to Apply
We encourage applicants to apply that are passionate about using technology and data to make a meaningful impact. Please submit your resume and a short cover letter (approximately one page) outlining your relevant skills, experience and suitability for the role by 4th November 2026.
