Serves as a Data Analyst responsible for analyzing, extracting, transforming, validating, and reconciling healthcare-related data across multiple systems.
The role is responsible for ensuring that data remains accurate, complete, and synchronized across systems, with a primary focus on member, provider, and claims data. Responsibilities include performing ETL activities, data validation, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, quality assurance, and development of recurring and ad hoc data reports and extracts.
The Data Analyst works closely with internal departments, Information Systems, Finance, Operations, and other business stakeholders to investigate data discrepancies, support system changes and upgrades, and provide accurate and timely data analysis.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Perform data analysis, extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation using SQL and other data tools.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and automated processes using SQL, Python, batch files, and related scripting tools.
- Perform ETL activities to support reporting, system interfaces, downstream processes, and data file generation.
- Reconcile member, provider, claim, financial, and other operational data across internal and external systems.
- Monitor data synchronization, identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and coordinate resolution of data integrity issues.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance, exception, and control reports to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Create recurring and ad hoc reports, extracts, and files in Excel, CSV, and other required formats.
- Coordinate scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly data processing and reporting activities.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, variances, exceptions, and data quality concerns.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the DataDental system, including key tables, relationships, business rules, and interfaces with other systems.
- Support DataDental upgrades, system implementations, conversions, and interface changes through testing, validation, and reconciliation.
- Research and respond to data-related questions and reporting requests from internal and external customers.
- Maintain documentation for SQL queries, automated processes, data mappings, reconciliation procedures, and recurring processes.
- Maintain current knowledge of Information Systems, Finance, data governance, security, and applicable company policies and procedures.
- Perform other analytical duties and projects as assigned.
- Alternative work schedules may occasionally be required to support business deadlines, system implementations, or production needs.
Skills:
- Advanced SQL and relational database skills, including complex queries, joins, data extraction, troubleshooting, and optimization across large datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and translate business requirements into effective data solutions; healthcare member, provider, eligibility, and claims data knowledge preferred.
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, ETL, reconciliation, validation, and data quality practices, with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and root causes across multiple systems.
- Working knowledge of Python, Windows batch scripting, Excel, and structured file formats such as CSV for data processing, automation, reporting, and file generation.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, data integration, ETL, database reporting, reconciliation, or a related analytical role.
- 3-5 years of hands-on SQL experience working with relational databases, large datasets, data validation, reconciliation, and data quality controls.
- Experience with data automation, file processing, and scripting using SQL, Python, batch files, Excel, CSV, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting system upgrades, data conversions, interfaces, or migrations preferred.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
