Data Analyst – Finance Accounting
Summary
Analyze financial data for a fintech company, building reports and models to track P&L, cost allocation, and funds transfer pricing using SQL, Excel, and BI tools.
Required Experience and Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Finance Accounting SME, Finance Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or similar role within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong domain knowledge of:
- P&L and financial performance reporting
- Cost allocation
- Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP)
- General Ledger structures
- Chart of Accounts and accounting hierarchies
- Finance reporting processes
- Demonstrated experience performing business process analysis, not limited to technical data querying.
- Strong hands-on SQL skills for data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, and validation.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into data models, mappings, business rules, and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with Finance Accounting data models, data warehouses, data marts, or enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with Finance Accounting reporting suites and management reporting solutions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data reconciliation, and analytical modelling.
- Comfortable working closely with data modellers to define entities, attributes, relationships, dimensions, hierarchies, and financial measures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex financial data issues.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CA, or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Experience with banking Finance transformation, Finance data platforms, or Finance data warehouse programmes.
- Familiarity with dimensional modelling, logical/physical data modelling, and data lineage concepts.
- Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to data governance, metadata management, data quality, and Finance data controls is desirable.
