Data Analyst

The National Insurance Corporation is seeking to fill the post of Data Analyst in the Computer department.


Summary of duties:

To lead the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data in support of evidence-based decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the analysis of large and varied datasets to identify trends, patterns and anomalies.
  2. Design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards and scorecards.

iii Perform and oversee data validation, normalisation and cleansing to ensure datasets are accurate, complete and

fit for purpose.

iv. Apply and reinforce NIC's data governance, data management and data privacy policies

v. Partner with IT and business units to identify, define and refine key performance indicators.

vi. Lead internal capacity-building in data literacy by coaching, training, and documentation.

vii. Monitor emerging data and analytics practices (cloud BI, AI/ML, data engineering) and recommend improvements

aligned with NIC's strategic objectives

Qualifications and experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
  2. Master's degree in Applied Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline preferred.
  3. At least three (3) years' experience in data analysis, business intelligence or a closely related role, including measurable exposure to senior or executive stakeholders.

iv. Experience with forecasting, optimisation, segmentation or other quantitative modelling techniques.

v. Relevant product or professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, DAMA-CDMP, or equivalent)

would be an asset.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

i. Strong working knowledge of data analysis, business intelligence, forecasting, and executive reporting practices.

ii. Proficiency in Excel and SQL, including writing and optimising complex queries against relational databases.

iii. Demonstrated proficiency in at least one enterprise data-visualisation tool (Tableau or Power BI), with willingness

and ability to work effectively in the other.

iv. Practical experience designing dashboards and KPI scorecards used by senior leadership.

v. Working knowledge of Python or a comparable scripting language for data manipulation, analysis or modelling.

vi. Working knowledge of data governance, data quality and data privacy concepts; familiarity with applicable data-

protection requirements.

vii Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex findings to senior, non-technical

audiences.
