Data Analyst

Summary

Analyze financial datasets to uncover trends and anomalies, build dashboards in Power BI/Tableau, and maintain data integrity using SQL, Python, and Microsoft Fabric.

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join a leading financial analytics organisation and play a key role in driving data-informed decision-making across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a data professional with a strong finance background who enjoys working with large datasets, identifying trends and anomalies, and delivering impactful reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

  • Collect, cleanse, validate, and organise data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain and enhance databases, data warehouses, and data systems.
  • Ensure data governance and quality standards are consistently met.

Data Analysis

  • Analyse large and complex financial datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities.
  • Perform detailed financial and operational data analysis to support strategic business decisions.
  • Develop actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings.
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualisations for business stakeholders.
  • Present findings in a clear and meaningful manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support ongoing reporting requirements and business performance monitoring.
  • Partner closely with finance and business teams to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Work alongside technology teams to implement data-driven solutions and improvements.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in analytics and business intelligence.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Finance will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Data Analyst role within the financial services, banking, investment, insurance, or related finance sectors.
  • Proven experience working with large datasets and financial reporting environments.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL skills for querying, analysing, and managing data.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and automation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualisation platforms.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric including data engineering, data integration, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
  • Familiarity with financial databases, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms.
