Description

We are seeking a hands-on Data Analyst to support a Source to Pay (S2P) transformation program focused on improving supplier management and procurement across SAP Ariba, Oracle ERP and Maximo.

This is an initial two-month contract with a view to extend.

Working within the program’s data stream, you will analyse supplier, procurement and work order data, identify quality issues and develop clear outputs that business and technical teams can use to resolve them. Your work will help ensure data is accurate, consistent and ready to support updated processes.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys investigating complex datasets, understanding why discrepancies occur and working with stakeholders to agree practical actions.

About the role

You will work closely with the Data Stream Lead, business stakeholders, business analysts and technical teams to define data requirements, establish validation rules and provide traceable analysis across multiple systems.

The focus is on identifying issues, recommending remediation and verifying outcomes. Business and system owners will remain responsible for approving and making changes to production records.

Key responsibilities

  • Profile and assess datasets for completeness, validity, consistency and uniqueness, establishing a clear baseline of data quality.

  • Identify duplicate suppliers within Oracle and across Oracle and Ariba using agreed exact and fuzzy matching rules.

  • Analyse supplier attributes, including ABNs, legal and trading names, addresses and contact details, documenting matching confidence and recommended actions.

  • Identify suppliers present in Oracle but missing from Ariba and prepare exception lists for business review.

  • Prepare approved supplier records in the required Ariba CSV bulk-load format, validating structure and reconciling record counts.

  • Review open work orders against employee and contractor data to identify missing, invalid or inactive owners.

  • Prepare work order exception reports and potential reassignment or closure candidates for business validation.

  • Reconcile approved source files against target-system outputs, checking record counts, mandatory fields and key values.

  • Gather and document business requirements, data mappings, matching rules and reporting specifications.

  • Support data investigation during system integration testing and user acceptance testing.

  • Maintain reusable SQL, analysis logic and reconciliation evidence, and provide clear findings and handover documentation.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • At least two years’ experience in data analysis or a similar data-focused analytical role.

  • Strong SQL capability, with experience querying and analysing large datasets across multiple sources.

  • Demonstrated experience in data profiling, data quality assessment, validation, reconciliation and entity matching.

  • Experience working with supplier, vendor, procurement, finance or master data.

  • Experience preparing clear analytical reports, exception lists and files that business or technical teams can use to implement corrections.

  • The ability to gather business requirements and translate them into practical analytical solutions.

  • Experience with relational databases, data warehouses or enterprise reporting platforms.

  • An understanding of data governance, metadata and information management principles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a structured approach to documenting assumptions, rules and findings.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Highly regarded

  • Experience with SAP Ariba supplier data, Oracle ERP supplier or purchasing data, or Maximo work order data.

  • Experience with fuzzy matching, entity resolution, ABN validation and legal-entity data.

  • Experience preparing and validating bulk-load files.

  • Exposure to SIT/UAT data analysis and defect investigation.

  • Experience developing reports or dashboards in Power BI.
