Data Analytics Engineer (Power BI & Advanced Analytics)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Analytics Developer (Power BI & Advanced Analytics) to design, develop, and deliver data-driven solutions that enable informed decision-making across business and operational functions.

This role combines expertise in data engineering, business intelligence, data visualization, and advanced analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable analytics solutions, developing enterprise-grade data models, creating impactful dashboards and reports, and supporting the development of advanced analytics products such as forecasting models, predictive insights, sentiment analysis, and decision-support tools.

Working closely with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, the role will drive the end-to-end delivery of analytics products from data acquisition through visualization and advanced analytics deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Data Modelling

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise data models and analytics datasets.

• Build and maintain end-to-end Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes across multiple data sources and systems.

• Develop scalable, high-performance semantic models and datasets for analytics and reporting.

• Optimize query performance and improve data model efficiency to support enterprise reporting requirements.

• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and scalability across analytics platforms.

Data Quality & Governance

• Design and maintain data quality monitoring dashboards and controls.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues in partnership with technical and business teams.

• Support the implementation of data governance standards, security controls, and data-sharing policies.

• Develop and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS) and access control frameworks for analytics environments.

Business Intelligence & Visualization

• Design, develop, test, and deploy interactive dashboards, reports, scorecards, metrics, and analytical applications using Microsoft Power BI.

• Create compelling visualizations that effectively communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Develop monitoring tools, data catalogs, and self-service analytics capabilities.

• Apply UI/UX best practices and data visualization principles to maximize user adoption and business value.

Advanced Analytics & Data Science

• Design, develop, test, and deploy advanced analytics solutions aligned with organizational analytics maturity goals.

• Develop predictive, prescriptive, and diagnostic analytics products that support business decision-making.

• Build and deploy forecasting models, trend analyses, scenario-based simulations, and recommendation models.

• Support development of AI-enabled analytics solutions, including sentiment analysis, anomaly detection, classification models, and other machine learning use cases where applicable.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to extend reporting solutions into advanced analytical and predictive capabilities.

• Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business insights.

Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, solution architects, and technical teams to gather requirements and define analytics solutions.

• Facilitate solution demonstrations, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training sessions, and knowledge-transfer activities.

• Provide hypercare and post-deployment support for analytics products.

• Contribute to Agile delivery processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, data visualization, or related disciplines.

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience using Microsoft Power BI in enterprise environments.

• Minimum 3 years of experience working within Agile delivery teams.

• Demonstrated experience building end-to-end analytics solutions, including data modelling, ETL, reporting, and dashboard development.

• Experience developing or supporting advanced analytics, predictive analytics, forecasting, machine learning, or data science initiatives is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

Required

• Advanced Microsoft Power BI development.

• Strong expertise in:

  • SQL

  • DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

  • Power Query (M Language)

• Data modelling and semantic model design.

• ETL development and data integration.

• Performance tuning and query optimization.

• Data visualization and dashboard design.

• Azure DevOps (ADO) proficiency.

• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and access management.

Highly Preferred

• Experience with predictive analytics, forecasting models, statistical modelling, or machine learning applications.

• Experience developing AI-enabled analytics solutions.

• Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and modern analytics architectures.

• Experience working with data lakes and cloud-based analytics platforms.

• Experience with advanced analytics tools and frameworks beyond Power BI.

• Experience with enterprise GIS platforms or open-source GIS technologies.
