Data Analytics Manager, AI Enablement (Remote)
Posted Updated
About the team
Symetra's AI Enablement team is a fast-growing team of builders inside our Data Analytics organization. Our goal is to accelerate AI adoption across the company in two ways: by building shared platforms, tooling, and patterns that let other teams effectively integrate AI into their workflows, and by shipping AI-powered applications for the most important use cases.
We work in small, cross-functional teams, build with the people who use what we make, and move fast. Our first product in production, docstream, is an AI-powered document-processing platform that currently supports several of Symetra's back-end operational processes. We plan to continue to iterate on docstream and to build out other products using the same modular architecture, integrating third-party products where it makes sense.
About the role
As a Data Analytics Manager, you'll lead one of our teams building AI products: software engineering, analytics engineering, or data science, depending on your background and where we need you. You'll also own one or more of our products as its project lead, driving scope, priorities, and timeline. You'll grow the people on your team, partner with business stakeholders, and stay hands-on enough to make good calls and keep things moving.
What you'll do
- Lead a team of software engineers, analytics engineers, or data scientists building AI products.
- Grow and develop the people on your team with regular coaching and feedback.
- Partner with business stakeholders to turn their problems into AI and analytics solutions.
- Act as project lead on a product, owning its scope, priorities, and timeline from idea to production.
- Stay hands-on enough to make sound technical calls and keep the team unblocked.
What we're looking for
Must-haves
- An experienced data or analytics leader (typically 6+ years) who has managed or led a team.
- A track record of delivering analytics or AI solutions with a team, from scoping to production.
- Strong communication and partnership with business stakeholders.
- Hands-on with AI yourself: fluent with AI coding agents and modern AI (LLMs, RAG, and the like).
- Comfortable staying close to the technology, making technical calls and keeping the team unblocked.
Nice-to-haves
- Leading a software, analytics, or data science team.
- Leading a team through ambiguous, new work.
- Shipping AI or ML products (LLMs, RAG, evaluations).
Our stack
- Python services and APIs on AWS (ECS Fargate, S3).
- A Snowflake data warehouse and an AWS data platform we're building out for AI.
- LLMs (primarily Claude) via AWS Bedrock, with RAG and evaluation pipelines.
- Lightweight web and browser-extension interfaces (TypeScript and React).
- AI coding agents, specifically Claude Code, in our daily workflow.
Compensation & logistics
- Remote (US). Full-time, exempt.
- Salary range: $145,000 to $200,000.
- Bonus: eligible for the Corporate Annual Bonus (CAB), target 10%.
