An opportunity is available for an experienced Data Analytics Specialist to join a large public sector organisation and support the transformation and optimisation of complex cost modelling, data and reporting processes.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can work across data analytics, modelling, engineering and reporting, while also engaging confidently with business, finance, technology and regulatory stakeholders.
You will review existing models and processes, identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen them, and help automate data and reporting workflows to improve efficiency, data quality and operational outcomes.

You will review existing models and processes, identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen them, and help automate data and reporting workflows to improve efficiency, data quality and operational outcomes.
What you'll be doing
- Review and document existing data models, calculation logic, data flows, assumptions, controls and reporting processes.
- Engage with business, finance, technology and data stakeholders to understand requirements and pain points.
- Profile, clean, transform and integrate data from multiple sources.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues and establish validation and reconciliation controls.
- Redesign and simplify complex cost models, data structures and analytical workflows.
- Automate data ingestion, transformation, modelling, quality assurance and reporting activities.
- Develop and enhance analytical and reporting solutions using modern data and BI technologies.
- Monitor data quality and solution performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Present technical concepts and analytical recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience across data analytics, data science, data modelling, data engineering or decision-support solutions.
- Strong experience with SQL, data modelling, data transformation and data integration.
- Strong experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL Server or similar modern data platforms.
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, quality management, validation and reconciliation.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and improving existing analytical models and business processes.
- Experience designing and implementing automated, controlled and maintainable solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering capability.
- Excellent written, verbal, visualisation and presentation skills.
- Experience within commercial analytics, financial or cost modelling, regulatory reporting, government or other complex organisational environments will be highly regarded.
