Summary

Designs and maintains scalable data architectures, data warehouses/data lakes, and ETL pipelines for enterprise clients, defining data models (star schema, 3NF), governance, and security standards. Works with SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake), and big data tools while collaborating with engineers, analysts, and BI/AI teams.

TheData Architect plays a key role in designing, implementing, and managing scalable data architectures that support our customer’s business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database design, cloud-based data solutions, and data governance. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data architectures.
  • Design and develop the overall logical and physical data architecture for the customer’s data warehouse and/or data lake.
  • Define data models, including star schema and 3NF, to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
  • Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, considering factors like query performance, data volume, and storage costs.
  • Develop and implement data management strategies, including data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
  • Work closely with business and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, business intelligence SMEs, and AI SMEs to ensure data integration and ETL processes align with the defined data architecture.
  • Review and provide feedback on data mapping documents, data quality rules, and data profiling results.
  • Develop and maintain data lineage and metadata documentation.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data architecture trends and technologies.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing performance.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Design and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines.
  • Select appropriate data technologies and tools to meet business needs.
  • Provide guidance and best practices on data modeling and database design.
  • Work with cloud-based and on-premises data solutions, including relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and developers to enhance data accessibility and usability.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate teams on data architecture principles.
  • Document data architecture solutions and processes for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in database management systems (SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools (Erwin, Lucidchart, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
