Data Architect (Databricks)
Visium combines strategy, frontier AI, and deep regulated-industry expertise to build and deploy AI-native systems that reinvent how businesses operate - unlocking the value of AI at scale.
We're not a strategy firm that ships slide decks and walks away. Not a tech consultancy that builds what won't get adopted. Not a product company chasing problems it doesn't understand. We're all three at once: strategy, deep technical and integration expertise, and product, working as one. That combination is our flywheel. Consulting keeps us close to the hardest real-world problems. Products let us solve them at scale. Every engagement sharpens our products; every deployment makes the next engagement faster, deeper, and more certain.
We're obsessed with outcomes. While 95% of enterprise AI pilots never reach production, Visium is built to be the 5% delivering productised AI that compounds in value, not point solutions that deliver marginal gains. We are AI-native, not AI-adjacent. We don't bolt AI onto broken workflows; we redesign them with AI at the core.
Role
As a Data Architect, you will own the data architecture of the Databricks lakehouse platforms we build for clients, primarily on Azure: ingestion, modelling, storage, governance and serving for analytics and AI use cases. You lead our data modellers, set the standards for how Visium delivers data architecture, and are the main technical counterpart for senior client stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Design and own end-to-end Databricks lakehouse architectures, from ingestion to serving, and take them to production.
- Set the data modelling standards and best practices (medallion architecture, dimensional modelling, Data Vault) that teams across Visium adopt.
- Act as lead architect on client projects, owning architecture decisions with senior client stakeholders and being the main contact for technical platform questions.
- Work closely with data engineers, data modellers, analytics teams, AI Platform/Solution Architects and business stakeholders.
- Ensure governance (Unity Catalog), security, performance and cost-efficiency of the platforms you design.
- Contribute to Visium’s strategy for data platforms, including how we deploy and manage them.
- Be accountable for the successful delivery of projects, cover the technical part of RFPs and support presales.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you bring a combination of expertise, experience, and skills including:
- 8+ years in data engineering and data architecture, having started as a data engineer, on large cloud data platforms (lakehouse, warehousing, analytics).
- Deep expertise in data architecture and data modelling for analytics and AI use cases, including lakehouse and data warehousing, medallion architecture, dimensional modelling and Data Vault.
- Hands-on experience designing Databricks lakehouses (Unity Catalog, Delta Lake) and running them in production. Azure strongly preferred, AWS /GCP exposure is an advantage.
- Experience leading data engineers and/or data modellers and setting standards others adopt.
- Experience in a client-facing architecture role (consultancy, partner or vendor) owning architecture decisions with senior stakeholders, with excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into robust, end-to-end technical solutions.
Nice to have
- Databricks or Azure certifications at data engineer or architect level
- Microsoft Fabric experience alongside Databricks
- SAP integration experience
- Pharma or life-sciences exposure
