Data Architect (Microsoft Fabric)
Summary
Design and lead enterprise data architectures using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure, modernizing legacy systems into governed lakehouse ecosystems and setting governance standards.
- Define enterprise data architecture standards, reference architectures, and implementation patterns for Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Purview, and Azure-based data platforms.
- Lead the design of Fabric-first analytics architectures, including OneLake strategy, Lakehouse and Warehouse patterns, workspace structure, domains, capacity considerations, and data product design.
- Establish Power BI architecture standards for semantic models, certified datasets, deployment pipelines, workspace governance, performance optimization, and self-service reporting.
- Define Microsoft Purview governance models including data catalog standards, lineage, business glossary, classification, ownership, stewardship, metadata management, and information protection alignment practices.
- Guide modernization from legacy databases, data warehouses, reporting platforms, and fragmented data stores into governed lakehouse and analytics ecosystems.
- Design integration strategies across cloud, on-premises, SaaS, operational systems, APIs, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
- Define data security, access control, privacy, retention, quality, and compliance patterns aligned to client and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with executive stakeholders, business leaders, delivery teams, and technical specialists to align data architecture with strategic outcomes.
- Conduct architecture reviews, solution assessments, platform readiness evaluations, and roadmap planning sessions.
- Translate complex Fabric architectures and data solutions into clear, business-friendly explanations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Document data architectures, pipelines, and technical decisions.
- Mentor data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and client teams on architecture standards and best practices.
- 8+ years of total technical experience in data engineering, analytics, or enterprise data platforms, including 3+ years in a dedicated data architecture or technical lead role.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture patterns, including Lakehouse, data warehouse, dimensional modeling, and semantic modeling.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
- Working knowledge of Power BI architecture and data governance concepts, including metadata, lineage, security, and compliance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business strategy into architecture roadmaps.
- Advanced English proficiency, written and spoken, required for daily collaboration with U.S.-based teams and client-facing engagements.
- Valid passport and up-to-date travel documentation for the United States, as occasional international travel may be required depending on client and project needs.
