Data Business Analyst
Summary
Business Analyst at act digital in Portugal, joining a Transversal Development Squad to specify and roll out a strategic Data Factory framework for the banking sector. Day to day: gathering requirements, writing functional specs and user stories, defining data-quality rules and test scenarios, using SQL/PL-SQL on Oracle with Jira/Azure DevOps in Agile delivery.
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Transversal Development Squad and play a key role in the analysis, specification, design, and rollout of a strategic Data Factory framework. In this position, you will work closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Developers, and Business Stakeholders, translating business requirements into scalable and high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and document requirements from business stakeholders, data owners, and regulatory teams.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and data models.
- Produce and maintain project documentation, such as requirements catalogues, data dictionaries, test plans, and process maps.
- Support testing activities by defining functional test scenarios and validation criteria.
- Facilitate communication with stakeholders through sprint reviews, demonstrations, status updates, and workshops.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the Data Factory framework and propose continuous improvements.
- Collaborate closely with ETL and Data Engineering teams to design efficient data flows and transformation processes.
- Define, implement, and maintain data quality standards, controls, validation rules, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Ensure traceability between business requirements, technical implementations, and delivery outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of the financial services and banking sector.
- Experience gathering and managing business requirements in complex, data-driven environments.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data management principles.
- Familiarity with data migration, data consolidation, and large-scale data aggregation initiatives.
Technical Skills
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project management and backlog management tools.
- Ability to manage user stories, requirements traceability, and collaboration between business and technical teams.
- Good understanding of relational databases and data modelling concepts.
- Proficiency in SQL, preferably within Oracle environments.
- Working knowledge of PL/SQL.
- Understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, and data integration architectures.

- Portuguese: Native or Fluent
- English: Advanced level (C1/C2), both written and spoken
