Data Center Build Manager (rakennuttajapäällikkö)
Nordecon Oy | Riihimäki, Finland | Permanent position
We are building a data center in Riihimäki, designed from the ground up for demanding AI and high-performance computing workloads. The project is in full swing, with the first phases targeting production readiness by the end of 2026. Server rooms are built in phases, so there is work here for a long time to come. We are looking for a build manager to drive the project forward as the owner's representative.
This is not a site foreman role. Designers, contractors and equipment suppliers handle the execution. You own the whole: schedule, budget, contracts and the interfaces to the grid company, suppliers and authorities. You report directly to the CEO and get the opportunity to build a team around you as the project and operational phase require.
What you will do
-
Own the project schedule, budget and overall delivery as the owner's representative
-
Direct and coordinate contractors, designers and equipment suppliers
-
Own the electrical infrastructure as a whole: grid company interface, transformer station, backup power and their commissioning
-
Manage permit processes and cooperation with authorities (building control, inspections)
-
Ensure occupational safety and regulatory compliance on site
-
Drive commissioning inspections, acceptance and documented handover to the operating organization
-
Report to management and assess resourcing needs for the build and operational phases
What we expect
-
A relevant technical degree (e.g. construction, electrical or building services engineering) or equivalent competence gained through experience
-
At least 8 years of experience in owner's side project management of industrial or technical facility projects
-
Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure: grid connections, transformer stations, backup power, commissioning inspections
-
Experience with construction contracts and contract management (YSE 1998)
-
A track record of schedule and cost control in projects
-
Knowledge of Finnish permit and regulatory processes
-
Fluent Finnish is required, as contractors, the grid company and authorities work in Finnish. English is used in technical documentation.
As a person you are self-driven and firm. You take full ownership, keep contractors on schedule and see things through to the finish.
What we consider a plus
-
A strong plus: experience with data center projects or environments, including redundancy, power distribution, cooling and availability requirements
-
Experience with Tier-classified data centers or the Uptime Institute framework
-
Familiarity with SFS 6001
-
Fluency with scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project)
-
Experience with facility maintenance after commissioning
What we offer
-
Ownership of the entire project and a direct reporting line to the CEO.
-
The opportunity to build a team around you: you assess and propose the hiring needs for the build and operational phases.
-
We are primarily hiring for a permanent position, but we are open to a fixed-term contract as well. Since the rooms are built in phases and the operational phase follows, there is work in sight far into the future.
The work is done mainly on site in Riihimäki, but remote work is acceptable whenever it is possible.
