Data Center Design Architect
About the role
The overall technical gatekeeper of the data center line — reviewing designs for large-scale projects and independently designing smaller ones, with end-to-end accountability for design quality.
Key responsibilities
Lead design reviews for large-scale data center projects (≥10 MW): technically audit concept designs, civil & structural drawings, and detailed MEP designs (HVAC, electrical, plumbing & fire protection, ELV) submitted by design institutes and contractors; issue review comments and drive them to closure
Lead concept design and scheme definition for mid-to-large projects: define Tier level / availability targets, capacity planning (IT load, cooling, power), site master planning, and technology route selection (air vs. liquid cooling, UPS vs. HVDC, generator configuration, etc.)
Independently deliver end-to-end designs for small / edge data centers (<2 MW): integrated design from civil conditions through MEP to ELV smart systems, producing construction-ready design documentation
Develop and maintain company-wide data center design standards, typical details, and technical specifications; build standardized modules (modular data centers, prefabricated solutions)
Support pre-sales: customer technical workshops, solution presentations, bid technical documents and clarifications
During construction: provide design briefings, technical clarifications and variation review; participate in key acceptance milestones and testing (FAT/SAT, commissioning support)
About you
Bachelor's degree or above in HVAC, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing / Fire Protection or a related engineering discipline
10+ years in the data center industry, including 5+ years in a design institute or at a leading data center operator / provider (e.g., Equinix, NTT GD, ST Telemedia, GDS, Vantage, EdgeConnex, or major consultancies)
In-depth command of TIA-942 and Uptime Tier III/IV standards (and familiarity with China GB50174 is a plus); Uptime ATD/ATS or Tier certification project experience preferred
Deep expertise across the full MEP scope: chillers / CRAH / pumped refrigerant / liquid cooling, MV & LV power distribution, UPS / shared bus / HVDC, diesel generators, clean agent fire suppression — able to independently review construction drawings across all disciplines and identify issues
Understands how civil conditions (floor loading, ceiling clearance, waterproofing, structural provisions) constrain MEP layout, with sound judgment on civil–MEP coordination
Hands-on experience across the full chain from design through MEP contracting to turnkey delivery
Willing to relocate to Indonesia / travel frequently; professional working proficiency in English (reading specifications, written communication, meetings) required; Mandarin is a plus
