Coyle Consulting is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a leading global technology organisation for a Data Centre Capacity Engineer to join its Edge Network Services team in Cloney, Ireland.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced data centre professional who enjoys working independently, solving complex infrastructure challenges, and taking ownership of critical capacity operations.
You’ll play a key role in managing the end-to-end lifecycle of large-scale compute, storage, and network racks — from installation and provisioning through to moves, refreshes, and decommissioning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage rack turn-up, relocation, refresh, and decommissioning workflows to meet capacity and volume requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to understand and deliver regional capacity needs.
- Oversee and troubleshoot issues relating to provisioning, network cabling, splicing, maintenance, and hardware defects.
- Determine and coordinate space and power requirements for different rack configurations.
- Support the installation and deployment of large-scale compute, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Develop and implement solutions to infrastructure and operational challenges.
- Work with servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and associated software and configuration tools.
- Collaborate with production operations, space and power, field operations, hardware placement, and provisioning engineering teams.
- Contribute to evolving data centre standards and AI-driven automation initiatives.
About the Role
This is a highly autonomous position where you will be the sole engineer based at the Cloney data centre, working as part of a wider global engineering team.
You’ll need to be comfortable operating independently, taking ownership of site-level responsibilities, and troubleshooting complex issues without constant on-site supervision. While you’ll have access to a broader network of experienced engineers and cross-functional partners, this role is ideal for someone who is confident making decisions and resolving problems independently.
The role involves working with large-scale infrastructure and the logistics surrounding the movement and deployment of substantial data centre racks. While the position is not primarily manual or physical work, regular on-site presence is essential to coordinate rack deployment and respond quickly when issues arise.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of relevant experience in a data centre environment.
- Experience working in a hyperscale data centre or large colocation facility is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of data centre fundamentals, including power, cooling, and space management.
- Hands‑on knowledge of servers, storage, networking equipment, and data centre rack infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and time effectively.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
