Data Center Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Description:

• Experienced in mission critical facility design, construction, and implementation of Data Centers.
• Experience with mission critical power distribution, Electrical systems, Mechanical systems (HVAC) and data systems.
• Lead efforts to deliver detailed design of large-scale HVAC and plumbing systems while following all company, client and project design, may involve leading teams dedicated to these design deliverables.
• Provide subject matter expertise in Data Center/Mission HVAC/plumbing design.
• Work closely with engineering project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects on scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines. Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into physical design and layouts.
• Conduct field surveys, drawings, and other data to assess conditions of existing facilities and develop summary reports.
• Prepare and /or review technical drawings to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
• Perform detailed calculations as needed by the project. Compiles data and creates engineering studies and reports.
• Hands on experience in day-to-day Data Center operations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent understanding of change management, testing requirements, techniques, and tools to ensure high availability of systems.
• Participate in the planning, coordination, implementation and execution of approved policies, programs and services related to Data Center services
• Willing to work in Converge and on site.
• Support and maintain 24x7 Data Center operations
• Knowledge of inside plant safety measures.
• Knowledge of data center security processes and adhere to the measures they put in place.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical & electrical concepts and terms (UPS, PACU, HVAC, Chilled Water System, GENSET, LVSG, POWER PANEL).
• Good work ethics and a willingness to learn.
• Work with Network engineering and lead Data Center projects to ensure they are delivered to meet customers.

Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical principles and systems.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand equipment functionality.
• Precision Measurement: Proficient in using precise measuring instruments to inspect and test equipment.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Communication: Effective communication skills to report site situations, collaborate with IT teams, and provide guidance to other technicians.
• Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physical tasks associated with maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Adaptability: Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment and respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Certifications: A vocational diploma or relevant short course certificate in a technical field is often required
