Data Center Facilities Controls Engineer

Summary

Oversees automation and control systems for data center infrastructure across global sites, ensuring reliability through BMS/EPMS integration, alarm management, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability and availability of operational data integration for Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) across overseas data centers.

  • Coordinate with on-site Facility Managers (FM) and Facility Engineers (FE) to develop, maintain, and periodically audit CMDB topology diagrams, ensuring data accuracy and currency.

  • Lead local teams in the inventory, integration, governance, and optimization of EMS monitoring points.

  • Work with site teams to develop and optimize alarm management strategies, establish EOP (Emergency Operating Procedure) linkage mechanisms, and conduct regular drills to validate response procedures.

  • Evaluate and implement technical improvements for automation and control systems, developing standardized solutions for recurring issues.

  • Perform automation-related risk assessments, review infrastructure changes, evaluate maintenance and operational optimization plans, conduct maintenance reviews, and participate in global technical inspections.

  • Drive the implementation of key automation technologies across global data centers to ensure stable and reliable automated control of critical infrastructure.

  • Oversee vendor activities related to on-site system changes, including system deployment, commissioning, configuration, optimization, and operational support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, HVAC, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of 3 years in data center operations, facilities management, automation engineering, or quality engineering.

  • Good understanding of industrial automation system architecture, control logic, and optimization methodologies.

  • Experience with BMS, EPMS, and critical data center infrastructure systems.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, and MQTT.

  • Experience in system deployment, commissioning, configuration, optimization, and operational support. Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python or Shell) will be an advantage.

  • Able to communicate effectively in both English and Chinese, including preparing technical documentation and collaborating with overseas stakeholders and vendors where bilingual communication is required.

  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills with a proactive and responsible approach to work.
