Data Center Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Data center operations engineer at AWS in Hong Kong performing 24/7 shift work: acting as incident first responder, doing break-fix troubleshooting, and maintaining server and network hardware per Amazon's data center processes. Core skills include server/network hardware troubleshooting, cabling and optics, and incident response.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The successful candidate shall follow Amazon Data Center processes and maintain high operational standards in supporting server and network hardware and software. They need to adapt to a fast and constantly changing environment and will require shift work including weekend and holiday.
Key responsibilities
- 7x24 roster duty in data center operations
- Incident first responder and onsite hands on support
- Break-fix and troubleshooting according to process guideline
- Maintain proper media operations according to process guideline
- Capacity landing and decommissioning according to process guideline
- Site management and maintain tidiness in operation areas
- Innovate and contribute from day to day operation experiences to improve operation efficiency
About you
- Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- 1+ years of server hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, or experience with network equipment installation and configuration
- 1+ years of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment experience, or experience in similar technical roles
- Degree / High Diploma or equivalent qualifications in Information Technology / Computer Science / Engineering or related disciplines
- Sound understanding on incidents response and prioritization
- Preferred: Experience in data center engineering or operations, or experience in operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities
- Preferred: 1+ years of data center experience, or experience in networking
- Preferred: Knowledge of cloud computing technologies
