<Data center>Principal Product Engineer – Optical Products

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Product Engineer to support advanced optical product development, NPI, manufacturing transfer, production ramp, and sustaining engineering in Taiwan. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring deep hands-on experience in fiber optics, optical module manufacturing, process integration, yield improvement, and cross-functional execution with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate will serve as a technical lead for optical product engineering in Taiwan, helping drive products from development builds through qualification, pilot production, and high-volume manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead product engineering execution for optical products from prototype builds through qualification, production release, and sustaining support.
• Support NPI planning, engineering builds, manufacturing readiness, test readiness, process transfer, and ramp execution.
• Drive technical issue resolution across optical assembly, fiber attach, process integration, module test, final test, reliability, and customer quality.
• Work closely with design engineering, optical engineering, packaging, test, reliability, operations, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Partner with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve yield, quality, process, material, and production ramp issues.
• Lead data-driven yield improvement using production data, failure pareto analysis, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and process optimization.
• Support development and release of optical assembly and fiber attach processes, including process flows, control plans, inspection criteria, process windows, and manufacturing release criteria.
• Provide technical leadership for product characterization, margin analysis, failure analysis, reliability learning, and production excursion response.
• Help define manufacturing specifications, test limits, outgoing quality controls, and product-level production metrics.
• Support customer or supplier technical escalations related to product quality, manufacturing performance, or reliability.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in product engineering, process integration, optical manufacturing, fiber optics, NPI, or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong hands-on background in fiber optics, optical modules, or photonics-related manufacturing.
• Experience supporting optical products from development through production ramp and sustaining.
• Knowledge of optical assembly, fiber attach, optical alignment, adhesive processes, test flow, process control, and yield improvement.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or Asia-based manufacturing partners.
• Strong analytical skills in failure analysis, root-cause investigation, production data analysis, and corrective action.
• Ability to work independently as a senior technical contributor while influencing cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills across local Taiwan teams and global engineering organizations.
• Engineering degree required; mechanical, electromechanical, optical, electrical, or related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with optical transceivers, fiber optic modules, silicon photonics, high-speed connectivity, or data center optical products.
• Experience with process integration for optical module manufacturing.
• Familiarity with active/passive alignment, fiber attach, FAU attach, lens attach, optical coupling, epoxy dispense/cure, and reliability validation.
• Experience with 100G, 400G, 800G, or higher-speed optical products.
• Background in production yield improvement, CM transfer, pilot builds, ramp readiness, and sustaining production support.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, optical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.

• NPI builds completed on schedule with clear product engineering ownership.
• Optical products successfully transferred into pilot and high-volume manufacturing.
• Yield, quality, reliability, and cost targets achieved.
• Fiber attach and optical assembly issues resolved quickly and systematically.
• Production excursions closed with effective root cause and corrective action.
• Strong technical collaboration established between Taiwan, global engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
