Data Centre Development Architect & Planner – APAC

Summary

Architect and planner designs and selects sites for large-scale data centers across APAC, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient land use while coordinating with engineers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and apply site selection criteria across APAC markets.
  • Source and manage local consultants, ensuring timely and conclusive site due diligence.
  • Negotiate site‑specific provisions in sale and purchase agreements
  • Optimize land use strategies for efficient Data Centre development.
  • Validate site suitability against code compliance and built‑to‑suit requirements for targeted customers.
  • Chair multi‑disciplinary coordination meetings, providing holistic site planning direction.
  • Ensure compliance with land use regulations, planning permissions, and external boundary provisions.
  • Monitor and interpret planning policy and legal changes impacting property development.
  • Deliver test fits integrating Data Centre buildings, facility structures, and Mechanical & Electrical plant layouts.
  • Provide executive briefings on final site analysis to enable informed site selection decisions.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in site selection and design of large‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
  • Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional registration with the Town Planners Institute (preferred).
  • Proven expertise in hyperscale data centres, micro‑electronics, or other critical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong collaboration with MEP engineers; adept in space planning for MEP infrastructure.
  • Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit.
  • Deep knowledge of site planning, building codes, and regulatory compliance.
  • LEED professional credentials (preferred).
  • Skilled at balancing competing viewpoints and stakeholder interests.
  • Willingness to travel based on project requirements.
