Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Data Centre Network Engineer to support network operations and physical network infrastructure within a data centre environment in Johor Bahru.
Important: This is not a purely NOC, monitoring or network configuration role. Candidates must have hands‑on experience performing physical network patching within a data centre/server‑room environment.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working on both network troubleshooting / configuration and physical fibre/copper connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands‑on fibre and copper network patching within the data centre.
- Patch connectivity between network switches, routers, servers, patch panels and/or ODFs.
- Handle SFP/SFP+ transceivers, fibre connections and physical link troubleshooting.
- Perform cable tracing, labelling, port identification and connectivity verification.
- Troubleshoot physical connectivity issues including cabling, transceivers and network ports.
- Support installation/replacement of network equipment and basic rack-and-stack activities.
- Configure and troubleshoot switches and routers.
- Support VLAN, trunking, STP, LAG/LACP/EtherChannel, IP addressing, subnetting and L2/L3 connectivity.
- Assist with network migration, changes, testing and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate patching, port‑mapping and network documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant network/data centre experience.
- Hands‑on fibre/copper patching experience is required.
- Must be comfortable physically working with network equipment, cabling and patch panels within a data centre.
- Familiar with SFP/SFP+, fibre Tx/Rx, LC/SC connectors, cable tracing and labelling.
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise switches/routers such as Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, H3C, Aruba or equivalent.
- Good networking fundamentals including VLAN, trunking, STP, LAG/LACP, TCP/IP and subnetting.
- Experience with fibre testing/troubleshooting tools such as OTDR, VFL or optical power meter would be advantageous.
- CCNA, JNCIA, HCIA or relevant networking/fibre certification is advantageous.
