Data Centre Technician (m/f/n)

Summary

On-site Data Centre Technician installs, maintains, and decommissions servers and network gear, manages cabling, audits inventory, and follows strict change-management procedures in a Warsaw data center.

For one of our Partners, we are looking for a supplementary Data Centre Technician (m/f/n) to support long-term project delivered for a European Union organization based in Warsaw.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Hands-on experience with server and network device installation

  • Understanding of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards, and labelling

  • Basic networking knowledge (LAN, patching, switches)

  • Familiarity with asset management and inventory systems

  • Ability to follow change management and data center procedures

  • Basic troubleshooting of hardware components

  • Strong documentation and reporting skills

  • Proficiency in "Rack & Stack" procedures

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently

Specific requirements:

  • Manual Handling proficiency (lifting up Data Center & IT heavy equipment)

  • Ability to work in a data center environment (noise, cold, confined spaces)

  • Ability to work between different partner's sites in Poland and abroad DRS locations

  • Driving license cat. B

  • Higher education

  • 3 years of IT experience, including 2 at similar position

Typical tasks and responsibilities:

  • Comissioning & Decomissioning with Installation duties: Physically installing Data Center components, servers, network switches; performing initial power-on tests.

  • Own the ongoing verification and upkeep of DC cabling: correct routing through designated pathways, secure mounting/fastening, and accurate end-to-end labelling for power and network runs.

  • Stores & Logistics: Maintaining a tidy DC store, accepting deliveries, and ensuring all the equipment is ready for further processing after arrival and owning the whole hardware lifecycle process including comissioning and decomissioning.

  • Audit & Reporting: Performing regular inventory audits; updating asset registers and providing detailed reporting on capacity and hardware health when needed.

  • Hardware Maintenance: Replacing faulty components and managing the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process in cooperation with DC Contract Manager.

  • Capacity planning: Planning rack layouts and overseeing third-party contractors when requested.

  • Documentation: Actively maintaining maintenance management system and preparation of notifications for planned maintenance windows.

  • To prepare and perform changes to the Data Centre and IT core infrastructure.
