Data Communication System (DCS) Engineer

As a DCS Engineer, you will support the communications between the different Automatic Train Control Supervision components located at Central Control, Wayside and On-Board Trains. The communication between different subsystems can be through wired media (copper or fibre optics e.g. between stations and control centre) or wireless (between trains and wayside units). DCS Engineers are responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing the communications between the different Automatic Train Control Supervision components located at Central Control, Wayside and On-Board Trains. The role can include support in designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.
Responsibilities:
· Provide expert technical support skills to improve operational performance and productivity.
· Undertake independent investigations and produce reports and recommendations.
· Assist in developing and implementation of cross departmental self help initiatives to enhance technical skill levels and improve efficiency.
· Identify innovative techniques and exploit new systems, technology to improve working practices.
· Undertake technical audits/investigations and produce reports and provide recommendations.
· Implement action plans to address recommendations derived from analytical data.
· Provide technical advice on new bids and re-negotiation of existing contracts.
· Responsible for handling all technical problems in running projects and devices under maintenance, achieving customer acceptance/satisfaction through high performance and quality of services.
· Responsible for supporting PM and having a good technical interaction with customers, good customer relationships with peers in the Customer department.
· Responsible for supporting the implementation manager to control the quality of the project.
· Responsible for establishing a maintenance routine and able to timely handle customer technical problems, product-related changes, product issues and correction releases.
· Products/Technical Knowledge update through self-learning techniques, to meet upcoming service requirements.
Essential Requirements:
· A degree in Information Systems, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related technical field.
· At least 5 years relevant experience in Operational Communications and/or Signalling Systems.
· Minimally 2 years of network engineering working experience
· Professional knowledge and experience in network detailed design and implementations
v On technologies including SDH, MPLS-TP, IP, IP/MPLS, Ethernet etc,
v Cable network design (fibre, copper, structured cabling),
v 4G/5G/Wifi network design,
v Infra design (Virtualisation, VMWare, Windows, Linux, IT services),
v Cybersecurity implementation (Hardening, FW, AV,…),
v Scripting(python, …),
v Network detailed design, administration, troubleshooting, capacity optimization,
v Network security design and implementation
· Strong advantage on following Professional qualifications
v Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
v Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional(HCIP)
v Or other vendor specific courses, such as Juniper Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE)
· Resourceful and analytical in design activities, ability to use pertinent data for meticulous recommendations,
· Making timely & well considered technical decisions, both independently and in concert with others
