Data Engineer, Ad Data at TikTok

Summary

Build and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data warehouses to power TikTok’s ad platform, ensuring high-quality data for advertiser insights and decision-making.

Overview

Ad Data is the cornerstone of every business decision that millions of advertisers make every day on TikTok. We are tasked with innovating on a daily basis to create and maintain complex systems at large scale and continue expanding the capacity to better serve advertisers growing at an exponential pace.We are looking for people who are highly motivated by aiming for the highest, moving fast, and changing the way customers use data to drive profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product managers and operations team to design data-related products.
  • Communicate with engineers, product managers and product analysts to understand data needs.
  • Build up data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas.
  • Design, build and launch new data ETL processes in production.
  • Support existing streaming and batch systems in production and solve on-call issues.
  • Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas.
  • Work with data infrastructure to triage infra issues and drive to resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the data warehouse space.
  • At least 2 years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • At least 2 years of experience in custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc., and a minimum of 2 years of experience with SQL statements.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one programming language, such as Python, familiarity with AI tools, and hands‑on experience applying these tools to improve productivity and problem‑solving.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to identify and communicate data‑driven insights.
