About the role:
We are seeking an experienced data engineer with 5-7 years of hands-on experience to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. In this fully remote role, you will leverage GCP services, Python, SQL, and BigQuery to drive data-driven insights and ensure the performance, reliability, and security of our data infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services
- Implement and optimize data models and schemas in BigQuery
- Write efficient SQL queries and Python scripts for data transformation and analysis
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data quality and reliability
- Document data workflows, architectures, and best practices
- Implement data governance, security controls, and compliance standards
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the team
Required qualifications:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in data engineering
- Strong proficiency with Google Cloud Platform services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow
- Expert-level SQL skills and experience optimizing complex queries
- Advanced Python programming skills for data processing and automation
- Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT workflows
- Solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
- Experience with Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Deployment Manager)
- Knowledge of dbt or similar data transformation frameworks
- Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (Pub/Sub, Dataflow Streaming)
- Exposure to additional cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
