I’m working with a high-growth, technology-led business that is investing heavily in data and building a brand-new data platform to transform how data is collected, managed and used across the organisation.
They’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to play a key role in shaping that platform from the ground up.
What you’ll be doing
This is a genuinely hands-on role, but with plenty of opportunity to influence the bigger picture.
- Designing and building data pipelines across multiple layers of a new data platform
- Working closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and turn them into technical solutions
- Helping shape the infrastructure supporting the platform
- Establishing engineering standards, patterns and best practices
- Working across data cleansing, migration, modelling and transformation
- Supporting governance and providing technical guidance around data
- Identifying new opportunities to improve how data is used across the business
- Helping define the future direction of the organisation’s data capabilities
What they’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll have:
- 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience with Spark
- Strong experience with data modelling, migration, cleansing and transformation
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
- Experience building data pipelines and working with modern data platforms
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
- A mindset focused on improving how data is used, rather than simply maintaining the status quo
