Permanent full-time onsite Data Engineer with Asplundh's IT team (Wollongong or Glendenning, NSW) who designs, builds and supports data pipelines, REST API integrations and data platform services using Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure and FME, with a focus on automation, governance, data quality and spatial data transformation.

We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer to join our growing Information Technology team in a permanent full-time onsite role based at either our Wollongong or Glendenning office, with travel between sites as required.
In this role, you will design, build, support and improve data pipelines, integrations, REST API connections and data platform services using modern technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure and FME.
You will help strengthen our data and integration capability across automation, governance, data quality, spatial data transformation and operational support.

What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build, support and optimise data pipelines, integrations, data transfer processes and replication solutions.
- Develop reusable integration patterns, standards and documentation for business processes, data flows and system connections.
- Support data engineering and architecture solutions across Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure and approved data platforms.
- Improve performance, reliability, scalability and cost efficiency across data storage, orchestration and retrieval processes.
- Implement validation, auditing, monitoring and logging processes to support data quality, security and integrity.
- Contribute to data models, schemas and structures for operational, reporting, analytical and spatial requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to deliver fit-for-purpose data and integration outcomes.
- Relevant qualification or professional experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related field.
- Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, SQL, Java or C#.
- Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Experience with modern data platforms, ideally Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake.
- Experience with REST APIs, automation, secure data handling, data quality and governance practices.
- Experience transforming spatial data using FME by Safe Software will be highly valued.
- Experience in a similar data and integration role within a complex enterprise environment, including ERP, CRM or HCM platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, geospatial tools such as Esri ArcGIS, or IT frameworks such as ITIL, Agile or PRINCE2.
- Experience with Git, source control, CI/CD, environment promotion or deployment practices.
- A collaborative, outcome-focused approach with strong problem-solving, communication and solution design skills.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, standards and continuous improvement.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, learn quickly and contribute to team capability.
